Just days after the Chilean miners are rescued, I read today of a mine blast in China that has killed 20 people and left 17 missing. It's shocking that this sort of thing keeps happening but I wonder if this latest incident would have been given so much coverage had it not been for the Chile mine accident. How many more of these kinds of tragic events happen every day that we're not told about over in the UK just because it doesn't affect us? I may be being cynical but it's issue that I've been wondering about for a while now...if it doesn't affect the UK, do the British press care as much?
